Library Card

A valid St. Kate's ID card serves as the library card for students, faculty and staff and is required to check out materials, including items on Reserves.

Your library barcode is on the back of your ID. You can also get your library barcode from KateWay under Campus Resources.

 

Renewals

Go to My Account on CLICnet or renew by phone (St. Paul: 651-690-8737 and Minneapolis: 651-690-7784). Please have your library barcode and book titles ready when you call.

 

Borrowing Privileges by User

Undergraduate and Graduate Students (6 week loan period with two 28-day renewals)

Currently enrolled students of St. Catherine University have full borrowing privileges.Seniors auditing our classes have borrowing but not interlibrary loan privileges. Students from other CLIC member libraries also have full borrowing privileges, as long as they have a valid ID from their own institution in hand. See library services for Undergrads & Evening/Weekend or Grad Students.

Faculty/Staff (90-day loan period with two 45-day renewals)
Faculty (including adjunct) and staff have full borrowing privileges. Must have institution ID card. See library services for Faculty & Staff.

CSJs (90-day loan period)
Sisters of St. Joseph have full borrowing privileges. Must have institution ID card. See library services for CSJs.

Alumnae/i (6 week loan period)
Alumni are eligible for an Alumnae Card with restricted borrowing privileges after filling out an application at the Circulation Desk. See library services for Alumnae/i.

Neighbors (6 week loan period)
Neighbors of the University (define as those living in 55105, 55116 and 55454) may purchase a Neighbor Card with restricted borrowing privileges for an annual fee of $50. Apply for the card with one of the staff members at the Circulation desk. Processing requests for these cards may take several business days. See library services for Neighbors.

 

Loan Periods by Item Type

Books
The loan period for most is determined by the status of the borrower.

Periodicals (including magazines, journals, and newspapers)
Periodicals may NOT be checked out. Special arrangements may be made through the circulation library staff for in-classroom use or to accommodate special photocopying needs.

Reference Books
Reference books may NOT be checked out except by special permission of the library staff for in-classroom use. See e-Reference books for reference books that may be used out of the library.

Reserves
The loan period for reserve items is set by the instructor or library staff.  The loan period may be 2 hours, 3 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours, or 7 days.  Reserves are not renewable.

Media Reserves
Audio-visual items on reserve are for in-library use only except by special arrangement.

DVDs/Videorecordings
DVDs on reserve for classes may not circulate. Others can be checked out for 7 days. Consult St. Paul Media Services or Minneapolis Media Services for more information.

Audio/Sound Recordings
Sound recordings, unless on reserve, circulate for 6 weeks.

Archives & Special Collections (including Ade Bethune)
Items in these collections do not circulate and may be used only under the supervision of the Archives staff.
