Why was my loan request cancelled?

  • Because we own it and are able to loan it.

    • If we own the item requested and it is available and you live within the 7-county MN metro, you cannot use ILLiad to place the book on hold.

  • Because a CLIC school owns it and is able to loan it.

    • If a CLIC school owns the item requested and it is available, you cannot use ILLiad to place the book on hold and must go through CLICsearch.

  • Because no Minitex location owns it or is able to loan it.

    • If Minitex locations are unable to lend the item requested, you cannot use ILLiad to get on a waitlist for the item. Undergraduates cannot get books from national locations if the item is not owned within the Minitex region.

    • If national locations are unable to lend the item requested, you cannot use ILLiad to get on a waitlist for the item.

  • Because no location is able to loan it before the expiration date.

    • If you put an unrealistic expiration date, requests may be cancelled because there is no way to get the book on time. Putting a short expiration date DOES NOT make the book come faster! Use an expiration date of at least a month to ensure the request has enough time to be filled.

  • Because the citation is wrong or incomplete.

    • Sometimes it is easy for us to fill in the gaps, but other times it can be nearly impossible. We cannot fill in the citation information if all you can tell us is a very common title and nothing else; you must find this information yourself so that we know where to look.
