This guide contains information about the Library's services and resources during the COVID-19 pandemic. This list is subject to change, based on the rapidly evolving COVID-19 landscape. You can still access most library resources 24/7 through our website!

Policies

St. Catherine University COVID-19 Information

The Library Space is Currently Closed

The library is closed at this time of precautionary measures in response to COVID-19 primarily for the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff. However, pickup service and study rooms for individual student use is available (see details below). The Library will not be open for these services on Saturdays during J-term. Our Saturday hours will resume at the beginning of spring semester.

Library Checkouts & Returns

Library checkout periods have returned to normal, and fines for lost items have been reinstated.
Patrons can return materials to the Library external book drop (behind CdC in the library parking lot. Look for the big blue storage container in front of it), or the internal book drop outside the St. Paul Library in CdC (St. Kate's ID is required to access the building). Email us (librarynotices@stkate.edu) with any questions. 

Physical Materials

Even though our print collection is closed to browsing, desired materials can be requested and collected through our Library Pickup Service. Unfortunately, due to University policy, we cannot provide access to alums and neighbors.

Interlibrary Loan

Electronic interlibrary loan remains available, using our ILLiad electronic document delivery. ILLiad interlibrary loan items are still due on their due dates. Contact ILL staff (iloan@stkate.edu) for questions or renewal requests. 
Please contact iloan@stkate.edu to request a renewal on physical interlibrary loan items (no more than 5 days before the due date). Return items to our external or internal book drops (see details above). 

Research Assistance

Subject Librarians are happy to meet with all faculty & students remotely, via chat, email, phone or virtual consultation. Please contact your subject librarian for a consultation or view our Help page.
Online Access - login information, troubleshooting access & more

Printing on Campus

St. Kate's users can print to many campus printers using A-FindMe-Printer. You should bring your own device to campus along with your ID to access a campus building.
Before printing, users must first self-register a St. Kate’s ID card on A-FindMe-Printer on campus. You must be a current St. Kate’s student (with sufficient print credit), faculty or staff to use A-FindMe-Printer.
A list of printers is available via this link (note the library printers are not available).
Students without their own laptop can check out a loaner laptop through ServiceNow (access it through My St. Kate's). Campus computers are not cleaned regularly so for safety reasons you should use your own device or borrow one.

Alumni, Neighbors, & Guests

Due to campus policy, we cannot allow alumni, neighbors, and guests access to the library at this time. Instead, please use MNLINK to search for and request our materials to be delivered to your local public library. If you need assistance placing a request, please contact your public library.

Donations

Due to safety concerns related to Covid-19, we are not currently accepting donations of books or other physical items.

Tips for Working Remotely

Know your passwords!

Some people have accounts continuously logged in.  If you are one of those people, make sure you know your passwords so you can log in from home.

Bookmarks

Know how to access your bookmarks from off campus if you need them.  You can export them as a file.

IT Help

Here are some common IT tools that might be useful for working remotely. You can find more about these tools in the Knowledge Base in ServiceNow accessed through the My St. Kate's portal. For further questions email the IT helpdesk or put in a ServiceNow ticket. 
  • Box: unlimited cloud drive built to allow you to access files from your computer without needing to take up much of your actual hard drive space. Useful for sharing files and collaborative work. Available to all St. Catherine's faculty, students, and staff.
  • KACE: KACE self-service allows you to download software, applications, and run updates for your St. Kate’s computer. Note that the site is different for Windows and Macs. See the Knowledge Base in ServiceNow for more assistance.
