The 4 Factors of Fair Use

Fair Use: Legally using a copyrighted work without direct permission from the copyright owner

The fair use of a copyrighted work . . . for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, or research, is not an infringement on copyright.

Fair use is not a straightforward concept, therefore fair use analysis must be conducted on a case-by-case basis.
